The North American shale revolution has transformed the US natural gas markets. From being a net importer of natural gas in 2008, the US is now poised to be a net exporter of natural gas. Abundant gas reserves, low gas prices (relative to oil) and inadequacy of midstream infrastructure have presented numerous challenges and opportunities for industry participants. While gas producers are findings ways to keep costs down and find avenues to move gas to markets, abundant supplies are encouraging capital flows to develop much needed midstream infrastructure to move gas to various domestic and international markets. On the market side, end users are finding ways to use cheap natural gas as a fuel/feedstock replacement for more expensive refined products, gas monetization via GTL, Methanol and other GTX technologies- spurring a “dash for gas”. To make matters more complex, natural gas, NGLs and oil markets have increasingly become intertwined requiring the understanding of interdependencies between markets.

Enkon’s team understands these inter-fuel dependencies and has strong experience in the US natural gas industry with expertise covering the full energy value chain: from upstream production to downstream gas markets.
